Fun Had by All at Annual Picnic
The CGNA annual picnic was held September 11 at the Country Grove Park. Many neighbors came out to eat, play games, chat with old friends, and meet new neighbors. Children participated in three age-specific heats of the three-legged race and crab walk. And, then there was a relay race where teams ran with swimming “noodles” between their legs (hands in the air!).
Gifts baskets were awarded to the newest neighbor attending the picnic, as well as the neighbors who have lived in Country Grove Estates the longest.
All the neighbor kids were given coupons from Culver’s, as well as enjoyed the balloon artistry and face painting of Gigglin’ Gil the clown.
Thank you to our neighbors, Scott & Katy Culver and Bill & Armande Fruhling, for providing the grills to make our lunches. And, a special thank you to Zach Brandon, Stuart Geenen, Dave Lundal, and Mike Smith for the set-up and tearing down of the neighborhood tent.
Red, Bike and Blue Parade Officer Mike Hanson of the Madison Police Department led the parade in a police car with lights flashing and sirens announcing our arrival. After the 1 mile ride through the neighborhood participants received popsicles and cold water. Every parade participant also recveived festive red, blue or silver beads, plastic American flags and/or patriotic buttons to wear. Thank you to everyone who came out to wave and cheer us on our way! It was wonderful to have your smiles greet us along the parade route. Thank you to all those who participated in this fun event. Click Here to See Photos
The 2nd annual Red, Bike and Blue was held on Saturday, July 2, 2005. Over 50 children rode decorated bikes, scooters, and skateboards or rode in wagons and strollers. This year, we even had some patriotic pets participate.
Spring and Kites Were in the Air at CGNA Spring Fling
The neighborhood Spring Fling was held at Country Grove Park on Saturday morning, April 16. Over 40 children and their families from Country Grove and the neighboring association of Glacier Ridge enjoyed the festivities.
Children competed in crab walk, 2 person wheel barrow, and 3-legged races. Even moms, dads and grandparents were recruited for a 3-legged race! Each child received a small kite to take home and had the opportunity to color or create a May basket which was filled with candy.
Neighbors received an extra special treat from Craig Wilson of Aerial Kite Photography who came to fly his amazing kites. Craig is the brother of neighbor Joy Wilson and the founder of Madison’s Kites on Ice. Craig brought large beautiful flags to help decorate our park and flew many of his wonderful kites. He even took photos from a camera attached to one of the kites! One 7-year-old girl summed it up best when she said "I’m glad we ordered him!"
Thank you to those families who brought a treat for everyone to eat that morning (even a neighborhood dog enjoyed the refreshments towards the end of our fun)! Click Here to See Photos
